It Happens After Prayer

“Prayer is our Christian duty. It is an expression of submission to God and dependence upon Him. For that matter, prayer is arguably the most objective measurement of our dependence upon God. The things you pray about are the things you trust God to handle. The things you neglect to pray about are the things you trust you can handle on your own.”

Title: It Happens After Prayer

Author: H.B. Charles, Jr.

Brief summary: I will let the author’s own words summarize this book: “This is not a textbook that explains the whys and hows of prayer. My goal is to simply challenge you to respond to the vicissitudes of life with prayer, to pray without ceasing, and to pray with great expectations.”  And he did a good job with that goal in mind. You will leave this book wanting to pray more, and doing so with more expectation.

What I liked about it: This book was a breath of fresh air. The author wrote with great passion and clear simplicity. With Scripture as the starting point, he illustrates biblical truth on prayer with many personal stories and helpful analogies.

More than anything, this book will motivate you to pray. You will be reminded why prayer matters. You will be reminded of all the good that takes place through prayer, and you will be reminded to view prayer as a privilege.
